MUSICIANS IN LA
Musicians in Downtown LA
View on map →Downtown LA's music scene is massive and diverse—everything from historic theaters to DIY spaces in the Arts District. This is where you'll find larger rooms booking touring indie acts, underground electronic parties in warehouses, experimental noise shows, and everything in between. The scene is less cohesive than Eastside neighborhoods because Downtown is so spread out, but the variety means there's space for every genre and style. If you can navigate the sprawl, there are opportunities here that don't exist anywhere else in the city.

Local Tips
Downtown is huge—know which area you're going to before you leave. Arts District has most of the indie/DIY action; Historic Core has larger venues; Little Tokyo has underground electronic shows. Parking is either expensive ($20+ lots) or sketchy street spots—arrive early and assess safety. Best nights are Friday/Saturday for larger venues, but DIY spaces run shows midweek too. The scene is fragmented—electronic folks don't always overlap with indie rockers—but there's opportunity in that diversity. Join DTLA Musicians Facebook group. Grab tacos at Guisados or coffee at Verve before shows.
